Why Thai Green Curry Turkey Meatballs?

This makes ground turkey meatballs healthy and ideal for those looking to enjoy comfort food with fewer calories. The addition of fresh ingredients like cilantro, garlic, and ginger brings a fragrant, zesty taste to the meatballs, while the Thai Curry Sauce offers a spicy kick that’s hard to resist.
For anyone looking for unique and delicious ground turkey meatball recipes, these Thai Curry Meatballs offer an exciting change from the usual options.
How to Make Thai Curry Turkey Meatballs
To make these Thai Curry Turkey Meatballs, you’ll need ground turkey, green curry paste, coconut milk, breadcrumbs, bell pepper and onion, and of course, garlic and ginger. Start by combining the ground turkey with garlic, ginger, coriander, and a splash of soy sauce to create flavourful meatballs. Once formed, sear them in a pan until golden brown and then cook for 30 minutes in the oven.
Next, the magic happens in the sauce. A rich Creamy Coconut Curry made from green curry paste and coconut milk gives the dish its signature creaminess and spice. The meatballs are simmered in this sauce allowing the flavours to meld perfectly.
Serving Suggestions and Variations

Ingredients
The Meatballs
- 500g ground lean Turkey meat
- 1 egg
- 100g breadcrumbs
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Thai green curry paste
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Vegetable oil
- Handful chopped coriander (cilantro)
For the Sauce
- 1/2 red bell pepper
- 1/2 large yellow onion
- 1 tin coconut milk
- Olive oil
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Thai green curry paste
To Garnish
- Chopped coriander (cilantro)
Instructions
- Place the following in a large bowl: Turkey meat, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, ginger, shallot, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp Thai green curry paste, salt and pepper. Mix by hand together until properly mixed.
- Make the meatballs by hand. I make them into about 1-inch diameter balls. Form the balls by rolling them between your palms until you have even-sized balls. These quantities made about 22 meatballs.
- Then brown the meatballs in a pan in some vegetable oil until browned on all sides and set aside.
- Then cook the meatballs in the oven at 180C for about 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, chop the bell pepper and the onion into strips and fry gently in a wok. Then add the coconut milk, the Thai green curry paste and the soy sauce and mix well. Allow to simmer for about 10 minutes and switch off the heat until the meatballs have cooked.
- Then add the meatballs to the sauce and bring to a simmer again for a further 10 minutes or until the sauce has begun to thicken.
- Garnish with some cilantro and serve.
Notes
Serve with white jasmine rice or coconut rice, or with some egg or rice noodles.
