Fried Chicken Wraps

This is a simple recipe for fried chicken wraps that is easy and quick to make and very satisfying for all family members. The advantage of this simple recipe is that is so versatile and easy to convert when you have fussy eaters. My daughter does not like onions, so we just leave them out. Do not want greens? Leave out the rucola. Do not want spice? Leave out the sambal. We all have our own versions of this in our house.

What Is a Fried Chicken Wraps?

There’s something oddly satisfying about biting into a wrap that crunches, kicks, and comforts all at once. That’s the magic of the fried chicken wrap – especially when it’s done right. Think crispy fried chicken, or rotisserie chicken,  wrapped in a soft flour tortilla, drenched in creamy garlic sauce, topped with golden fried onions, fiery sambal, crunchy crisps, and peppery rucola. It’s fast food’s elevated cousin – messy, indulgent, and unapologetically bold.

It is a sort of chicken version of a kebab, which you can fill with whatever you want.

Yes those are crisps! Ran out of batata palha!

I have plenty of chicken wrap recipes, but this is probably the easiest. The chicken salad wraps are great if you are looking for something a bit more healthier.

Chicken Wrap Ingredients

This isn’t your average wrap. It’s a mash-up of textures and global flavours that hits sweet, savoury, spicy, and crispy in one bite. The garlic sauce adds a smooth richness. The fried onions and crisps bring the crunch. Sambal kicks in with just the right heat. And the rucola? It’s the peppery green hero that balances everything out. Together, it’s a flavour bomb that wraps your taste buds in comfort and chaos. In the photos, I used some Gourmet salt and vinegar crisps for the crunch, as we had run out of potato sticks (batata palha), that we normally keep in our pantry.

No Rucola but lots of hot sauce!

Why do people love it so much? Because it is portable. It is super customizable. And it blends all sorts of cultures on a plate – Middle Eastern garlic sauce, Southeast Asian sambal, American-style fried chicken, and European street-food flair all wrapped in a tortilla. Think gyros, think kebab, think  Burrito. You will find versions of it popping up in food trucks, casual takeaways, and these days, in Instagram feeds across the world.

What makes this wrap stand out is not just the ingredients – it is the simplicity. It’s not trying to be fancy or fussy.

It is loud, tasty, and you can make it as spicy as you want. If you’re bored with bland wraps or uninspired sandwiches, this one is your wake-up call.

And you can eat it hot out of the pan, or store in the fridge and eat it cold later on. Either way – enjoy the feast!
