Clarkson’s Pork and Pepper Pasta
Fans of Clarkson’s Farm will know that life at Diddly Squat Farm is about much more than just tractors, sheep, and farming mishaps. Throughout the series, food plays a starring role too, celebrating fresh local ingredients and simple countryside cooking. Fans of his writing will have noticed his ‘signature dish’, or the ‘only thing he can cook’. This recipe is mentioned in his book ‘Diddly Squat: A Year on the Farm.’ That is this recipe for Pork and Pepper Pasta.
This recipe perfectly reflects the philosophy behind the farm. Using good-quality ingredients to create satisfying food without unnecessary fuss. It combines the comforting appeal of a creamy pasta dish with the rich flavour of pork and the natural sweetness of onions and peppers. This produces a meal that’s ideal for busy weeknights or relaxed family dinners.

Pork as an ingredient
Pork has always been one of Britain’s most versatile meats. From traditional sausages and roasts to casseroles and pasta dishes, it features prominently in British home cooking. Its mild flavour makes it an excellent partner for colourful vegetables such as bell peppers, which add both sweetness and freshness to the finished dish.
The peppers are more than just a splash of colour. Red, green or orange peppers bring subtle sweetness that balances the savoury pork beautifully. Their vibrant appearance also makes this pork and pepper pasta recipe particularly eye-catching. Making it a great choice for family recipe collections.

One of the reasons this style of pasta has become so popular is its simplicity. Unlike heavily spiced pasta dishes, this recipe lets the main ingredients shine. The original recipe does include chillies, but I have left them out in this version. Good-quality pork, fresh peppers, pasta, and a creamy sauce combine to produce something comforting without being overly complicated.
Inspired by life at Diddly Squat Farm, the recipe celebrates honest cooking using everyday ingredients. That’s very much in keeping with Jeremy Clarkson’s approach throughout the series, where locally sourced produce and supporting British farming are recurring themes. The food feels approachable rather than fussy, making it something almost anyone can recreate at home.

Clarkson’s ‘Signature Dish’
Clarkson’s pork and pepper pasta also lends itself to plenty of variation. Different pasta shapes all work well, while herbs, extra vegetables, or a generous helping of Parmesan can easily be added to suit your own tastes. The dish is substantial enough to serve on its own but also pairs wonderfully with garlic bread or a simple green salad.
Whether you’re a fan of Clarkson’s Farm, enjoy rustic British cooking, or simply want another comforting pasta recipe for your collection, this dish is well worth trying. It combines hearty flavours, colourful ingredients, and creamy comfort into one satisfying meal that reflects the relaxed, practical cooking style showcased at Diddly Squat Farm.
