This recipe is simple to make and ready in about a minute. We use frozen mango chunks from Aldi to make this, and I have used canned pineapple in some of these photos.

In some of them, I have used fresh pineapple. You can use either. I wonder if you can tell which taste better and which photos are which?!

Advantages of using Pineapple in your smoothie

Pineapple, with its tropical charm and distinctive taste, brings forth a multitude of advantages that go beyond its deliciousness. This spiky fruit, known for its vibrant yellow flesh and sweet aroma, offers a range of health benefits that make it a delightful addition to any diet.

First and foremost, pineapple is packed with essential vitamins and minerals. It is an excellent source of vitamin C, which supports the immune system, promotes collagen synthesis, and acts as a potent antioxidant. Additionally, pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme known for its anti-inflammatory properties and digestive benefits.

Bromelain aids in the breakdown of proteins, making pineapple a helpful addition to meals, particularly protein-rich ones.

Furthermore, pineapple is a rich source of manganese, a mineral essential for maintaining healthy bones, regulating blood sugar levels, and supporting antioxidant defences. It also provides dietary fibre, which aids in digestion, promotes satiety and supports a healthy gut.

Obviously fresh is better, but using one of the ingredients from frozen means you do not have to add ice to the recipe, which does save the blades and the motor on your blender, as they are softer and easier to blend!

Either way, this smoothie tastes divine.

The tropical mango taste is always delicious in a smoothie and we use frozen mango chunks in many of our smoothie recipes.

If you are worried about the calories present in the fruit juice, just use water instead.

We often used to use the juice as it was often leftover from our B&B guests’ breakfast and we did not like to waste it. It also adds an extra dimension of apple to the smoothie.

We also used to use some of our leftover fruits like apples and bananas from our B&B breakfast to make smoothies. The combinations are endless.

For example, if we had a banana leftover, that would also go well in this smoothie. But this recipe is a mango pineapple smoothie without banana, just for a change.

Best Smoothie Maker?

If you are looking to buy a smoothie maker, we purchased one of these Magic Bullet blenders below a while ago and would highly recommend them. Quick and efficient, and still going strong, even though it gets a lot of use.

We also use this fantastic invention for whipping cream, as we have no Cornish Clotted cream for our British high tea scones , or zapping tomatoes for my traditional spaghetti bolognese recipe. You can also use it to make breadcrumbs if you need to, with some toasted bread.

It is a very multifunctional piece of kit that you definitely need in your kitchen! Make sure you buy enough bits and pieces, like closeable cup lids, so you can take your smoothie with you to your place of work!
